“TREND AND LIFESTYLE”
(1st part of the 15th “St. Petersburg PHOTOFAIR”)
In 2010 «Saint-Petersburg PHOTO VERNISSAGE» presented an exhibition named «Trend and lifestyle».
Technical sponsor of the «Saint-Petersburg PHOTO VERNISSAGE 2010» was CANON company, which printed exposition on new large-format printers Canon imagePROGRAF.
Exhibition was visited by 23 419 people.
A wide program of photosessions and master-classes was held during «Saint-Petersburg PHOTO VERNISSAGE» by the luminaries of photo art – Cyril LAGEL (France, Paris), Almond CHU (China, Hong-Kong), Frank HORVAT (France,Paris), Eolo PERFIDO (Italy, Rome), Marianna CAPPELLI (Italy, Milano), Stefano CATTELAN (Italy, Turin), Uliano LUCAS (Italy, Milano), Susanna COLOMBO (Italy, Milano), Giovanni RESUTTI (Italy,Florence), Roberto CUSTERLE (Italy, Gorizia), Gene KIEGEL (UK, London), Jean Claude BERENS (Luxembourg), Sergey ROMANOV (Russia, Moscow).
More than 150 authors from different countries of Europe, USA, Australia, China, as well as Russian photographers presented their works at international photovernissage. Exhibition revealed an endless variety of artistic vision of trends: trends in clothing, design and architecture, persons and sexuality, politics and sport.
«Saint-Petersburg PHOTO VERNISSAGE» traditionally represented two main sections: retrospective and modern photography.
RETROSPECTIVE SECTION Works of Russian and West European archives, allows the viewer to feel the charm of lifestyle of 1920-1980’s. Moscow, Kiev, Saint-Petersburg. Historical material provided by Photo LTD agency, will bring the audience with the expressive power of familiar images: Sophia Loren, Federico Fellini, Audrey Hebburn, Valentino. All these and many other stars of world art posed in front of the classics of Italian photography – Giancolombo, Ulliano Lucas, Tazio Secchiaroli. The last one was the personal photographer of Sophia Loren.
Frank Horvat (France) - a living legend in the history of photography, world famous master, who stood at the origins of fashion photography. The works of Frank Horvat represented in prestigious galleries in New York, London, Paris and Milan, at the auction houses and popular magazines, will be a vivid part of the exhibition. He will bring his works to the exhibition and will hold a master-class.
MODERN PHOTOGRAPHY
Trends in persons.
Portraits of people, common and world celebrities, rich and poor, fashionable and not.
Irena Lazaryanu - the muse of Karl Lagerfeld appears very bright, extraordinary and extravagant at photos of the famous Italian master Luca Manfredi. While Dennis Rodman - a famous American basketball player conquers us with immediacy of emotions and strength of temperament.
Unusual mosaic portraits out of Polaroid pictures are created by official portraitist of the Venice Film Festival Maurizio Galimbert. His works are mathematically precise and musically harmonious at the same time.
Trends in sports.
This section includes the report shooting of trendy sports and latest achievements of photography in fixation of sports records. One series of photos by Italian master Stefano Cattelan was made for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Turin 2006. Author gave the public an opportunity to have a look at upcoming holiday, without revealing the main intrigue of the organizers.
Fashion in clothes.
The most presented and diverse section of the exhibition. Living and saturated color photographs by Lakita Chan, accentuated sexuality by Cyril Lagel, passion, drama and aggression in works of Aleksandar Kujucev, sophistication by Gene Kiegel - the art of photography is in reflecting the diversity and changeability of the world of fashion.
Trends in sexuality.
Sexuality is always trendy, and yet it is endless and unpredictable source of inspiration.
New York photographer Brian Shumway presents a Black Girl series - girls from poor quarters which dream about model career - their sexuality and helplessness become a kind of manifesto. The author blurs the difference between documentary and art photography.
Trends in architecture and design.
Modern architecture, its directions and the relationship of "historic" permanent (buildings) and fleeting (fashion).
Photographs Silvano Costanzo show "ghosts of the town", who live on our streets, the ghosts that disappear with the change of fashion trends that would never return. Kim Holtermand, Giovanni Presutti, Andrew Dmitrichev show their very innovative vision of the achievements of contemporary architecture - the dynamic angles, impetuous lines and shapes.
Authors of three best collections were named in opening day according to the results of contest “The best photo 2010”, which is held every year. More information.
Fashion shows by famous Russian designers were held as a part of Saint-Petersburg PHOTO VERNISSAGE.
The Saint-Petersburg PHOTO VERNISSAGE was closed on October 2, 2010, and the XV Saint-Petersburg PHOTOFAIR continued the second part of the same autumn photographic project from 21st October to 24thOctober, 2010 EXHIBITION CURATOR:
